Synopsis

Chicago in the 1930s. Under Prohibition, the city is besieged by violent crimes and gang control, with corruption reaching the highest official levels. Behind all of this stood Italian-American kingpin Al Capone. The Untouchables tracks the efforts of the US Treasury Department to bring Capone down on charges of tax evasion – a tactic that would eventually find success, but not before a great deal of intrigue and bloodshed. As Capone, Robert De Niro turns in a nuanced portrait of the legend, finding just the right pitch of charisma inflected with egomania to capture the smugness of a man who thought himself above the law.
