Synopsis

Little Saroo is a happy-go-lucky fellow who lives in a village in India. He enthusiastically helps his impoverished family maintain their livelihood – whether pilfering lumps of coal from passing freight trains, or helping his mother gather rocks. A series of mishaps leaves Saroo trapped on a train to Kolkata, so, lost and unable to explain where his home is, he is eventually adopted by a childless couple who live in Tasmania. Twenty-five years later, he begins a lengthy search to locate his childhood home. Both heart-warming and heartbreaking, Lion is a tribute to mothers, family, and love in every direction.
