Synopsis

Actor Greta Gerwig’s deeply touching and quietly hilarious directorial debut is inspired by her own youth in Sacramento, California. It is 2002, and Christine – a.k.a. “Lady Bird” – is in her final year of high school and cannot wait to leave her hometown and family to head to college on the East Coast, so she can get to “where culture is”. But, what with her parents’ financial struggles and her mediocre grades, her chances of admission are rather low. Saoirse Ronan plays the witty yet naive senior with bravado as she navigates the turbulence of adolescence, all the while battling her equally strong-willed mom on just about everything.
