According to a press communiqué received by the IFFM direction, this year, the jury of the 6th edition of the International Film Festival of Marrakech will be presided over by the filmmaker ROMAN POLANSKI.
The festival will pay tribute this year to Italian cinema by showing the diversity of its heritage and the creativity of its authors through the projection of some fifty films: "The Italian Preference", a true palette illustrating the history of Italian cinema from the 40s to our days.
A delegation of professionals, filmmakers, producers, actors and actresses will receive this tribute on Saturday 2nd December, 2006.
ROMAN POLANSKI
Director, actor, scriptwriter and producer
Of Polish parents, Roam Polanski grew up in Poland and did his studies at the national school of cinema in Lodz.
His full-length movie "The Pianist" received the Golden Palm at the Cannes Festival in 2003, 3 Oscars, best director, best actor, and best scriptwriter, 2 British Academy Film Awards, best film and best director, and in France 7 Caesars among which best film, best director and best actor.
