Slowly but surely the International Film Festival of Marrakech continues ploughing its furrow and sowing it with the seeds of quality, diversity and discovery.

And, little by little, by proof and example, Marrakech is coming forward as one of the major centres of cultural diversity.

UNESCO did not make a mistake when, in 2004, it honoured IFFM with its prestigious Fellini Medal. The Rossellini Foundation has come this same year, during the last month of October, to award its annual Rossellini prize to IFFM.

That shows that between the invention of modern cinema (Rossellini) and the accomplishment of the imaginary in cinema (Fellini), IFFM has no choice but utmost strictness.

And the tribute that this sixth edition pays to Italian cinema is also an invitation to anticipate the future: lay down the Universal as the prospect of Moroccan culture – with cinema as the determining vector.
